About the role

The Ultrasound Tech independently performs diagnostic and ultrasound-directed interventional procedures using proper techniques and protocols, operating equipment within their scope of practice. Position Summary

General Summary/Responsibilities: Independently performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and ultrasound directed interventional procedures utilizing proper techniques and protocols. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Ultrasound Department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities. Scope/Span of Control: Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable) Supervises FTEs: No Number of FTEs Supervised: N/A Exercises full management authority including performance reviews, discipline, termination and personnel hiring No Fiscal Responsibilities (if applicable) Annual Revenue in Dollars: N/A Annual Expense in Dollars: N/A Financial Accountability: N/A

Qualifications

  • Education Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree Additional requirements:
  • Type of degree: Allied Health
  • Area of study or major: Ultrasonography
  • Preferred educational qualifications: Associate degree or graduate of an accredited program
  • Position specific testing requirement: N/A Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following (required): o American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) o Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Vascular Credentialed by one of the following (required): o ARDMS- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) o CCI (RVS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Registered Vascular Specialist
  • Minimum of one additional registry in practiced specialties are required as approved by ARDMS: Abdomen, OB/GYN, muscular skeletal, Neurosonology, Breast
  • CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience Prior job title or occupational experience: N/A Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A Preferred experience: 2 years of experience in Ultrasound Other experience requirements: N/A Knowledge/Skills 3
  • Proficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
  • Advanced US applications Physical Requirements & Working Condition

Requirements

Candidates must possess an Associate degree in Ultrasonography or be a graduate of an accredited program, along with required credentials from ARDMS or ARRT, and specific vascular credentialing (RVT or RVS). A minimum of one additional registry in a practiced specialty (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN) and current CPR certification are also mandatory.
