The Physical Therapist Assistant administers Physical Therapy services to pediatric and young adult residents, collaborating with the Physical Therapist to provide treatment and support. Responsibilities include documenting care, managing therapeutic equipment, and participating in ongoing training.
Candidates must have an Associate’s Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and a current Kentucky PTA license. Experience with pediatric populations and medical complexities is required, along with strong communication skills.
PRN/Flexible around resident schedules, typically between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Key Responsibilities Provide Physical Therapy treatments to both pediatric and young adult residents according to physician orders and individualized plans of care Collaborate with the Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Wheelchair/Adaptive Equipment teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care Support on-site and off-site clinics and medical appointments for orthopedic and mobility needs (e.g., baclofen pumps, x-rays, equipment updates) Complete accurate daily documentation and billing in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and maintain compliance with infection control and facility standards Participate in ongoing training, assist with staff and student orientation, and help manage therapeutic equipment and orthotic devices Skills and Qualifications Associate’s Degree with completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required) Current Kentucky PTA license and Board Certification (required) Experience in Physical Therapy with pediatric and/or young adult populations required; experience with medical complexities, orthopedics, positioning, and aquatic therapy preferred Experience with wheelchairs and orthotic devices strongly preferred Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a commitment to compassionate, customer-focused care
