The Staff Physician is responsible for providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of the patients within the correctional facility, which includes performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and managing chronic conditions. Key duties involve formulating diagnoses, developing treatment plans, evaluating off-site treatment returns, responding to medical emergencies, leading training, conducting rounds, and ensuring compliance with all mandates and regulations.
Candidates must possess a Medical Degree (MD or DO) and hold a current unrestricted physician license and DEA registration in the specified state, along with being Board Certified or Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine. Essential qualifications include the ability to interact effectively with diverse patients, strong communication and computer skills, knowledge of current medical principles, and the capacity to adhere to confidentiality and professional conduct standards.
Overview NaphCare is hiring a Staff Physician to join our team of medical professionals in the Arizona Department of Corrections in Phoenix, Arizona. Pay rates range from $120.00 to $137.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience. Full Time and Part Time positions may be available! As a Correctional Staff Physician, you will be responsible for providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of the patients within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
The Staff Physician is responsible for performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and managing chronic conditions, ensuring care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to: Formulating working diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimens Evaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatment Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facility Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities related to medical care for patients Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills Medical degree (MD or DO) Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in STATE A current DEA registration in STATE Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine. Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred) Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills. Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to collaborate with medical team Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Why Join NaphCare?
