The Respiratory Therapist examines and treats patients with breathing-related conditions, performs diagnostic testing, and collaborates with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. Responsibilities also include delivering ordered respiratory therapies, responding to codes, and maintaining respiratory equipment.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy and hold a current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in the state of practice. Required certifications include BCLS, with ACLS, PALS, and NRP being preferred.

More about our team Join our rehabilitation team with the opportunity to work in one of our 3 outpatient locations and/or an acute care hospital with 48 beds. Our featured hospital units include medical surgical, same day surgery, intensive care unit, progressive care unit, emergency department and women’s services. How you’ll contribute Examines and treats patients with breathing-related conditions, performs diagnostic testing, and collaborates with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. Provides patient education on therapies and medication use; performs physiotherapy and related treatments. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer; may perform bedside PFTs, EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered. Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and response to treatment. Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions. Evaluates and contributes to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices. Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources. Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas and equipment readiness. Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, performs preventive maintenance, and calibrates respiratory equipment. Performs all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels. Participates in performance improvement and required education. Performs other duties as assigned.
Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in state of practice.
BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred.
Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments. Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems. Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). Ability to successfully complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.)
