BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

A High School Degree or GED is required, along with an active Medical Assisting certification from an approved organization (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA) or an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE). One year of medical assistant healthcare experience and two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office are preferred.
