The specialist is responsible for performing and reporting results for all diagnostic tests offered by the laboratory while actively participating in required quality assurance, infection control, safety, and proficiency testing programs. This role requires knowledge in the care of patients across all age groups from neonate through geriatric and mandates the maintenance of phlebotomy proficiency.
Candidates must meet the educational standards set by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988, requiring at least a B.S. degree in a Biological, Physical, Chemical Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science program. Job knowledge must qualify the individual as Testing Personnel under CLIA 88, and the position involves physical effort including walking, bending, and handling bio-hazardous materials.

Responsible for performing and reporting results of all diagnostic tests offered by White County Medical Center Laboratory while participating in QA, IC, Safety QCI, and proficiency testing programs as required by OSHA and CLIA 88. This position requires knowledge in the care of patients served as indicated: Neonate and infant birth up to one year, Childhood and Adolescence is one year to 17 years, Adult is 18 to 65 years and Geriatric is 65 years and above. Proficiency in phlebotomy must be maintained.
Walking, bending, using stairs, working with bio-hazardous material, wearing of protective material as required by OSHA.
