The Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse, functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include assisting patients with hygiene, operating basic medical equipment, collecting specimens, and alerting staff to changes in patient condition.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and up to six months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. A current Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification is required, or it must be obtained during the orientation period.
Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director and the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate patient care. The Patient Care Technician works under close supervision of a licensed nurse and performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs of patients.
• Education:
Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within the orientation period.)
