The Patient Care Technician works under nursing and medical staff supervision to assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating, while also observing progress and preparing reports for registered nurses. Duties also include obtaining vital signs, collecting lab specimens, providing basic transport, and measuring patient intake and output.
A high school diploma or GED is required, and BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire. Preferred qualifications include completion of CNA, PCT, or paramedic certification, current enrollment in nursing school, two years of experience in acute or long-term care, and demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
