The role involves performing laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols that require moderate to broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. Medical Laboratory Technicians or Scientists may specialize in areas such as blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and laboratory send-out reference testing.
Candidates must possess an Associate or Bachelor Degree in applied science for medical laboratory technology, biology, chemistry, or a related science, along with one year of clinical training from an accredited school of medical technology. Registration by a nationally recognized certification agency or registry eligibility is mandatory, with active certification being preferred.
