About the role

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in Radiation Oncology, completing assessments, administering treatments and drug therapies, and observing patient progress according to hospital policies and Massachusetts scope of practice. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team to achieve expected clinical outcomes.

Under the general supervision of the Manager, provides direct patient care in accordance with Winchester Hospital's policies and procedures and the scope of practice for Registered Nurses in Massachusetts. Completes assessments, performs treatments, administers appropriate drug therapies, observes patient’s progress, records responses/reactions to interventions, and evaluates therapies for clinical outcomes and effectiveness. Works collaboratively with the patient, the patient’s family/significant others, and all members of the health care team to achieve the expected outcomes.

Complies with all Winchester Hospital policies and the Code of Business Conduct. As required, maintains current license, life support certification, and tuberculosis testing. Takes responsibility for own safety as well as the safety of patients, patients’ family, co-workers, physicians and other customers.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care

Assesses the patient using methods such as observation, interview, and review of clinical data.

Develops individualized plan of care including discharge plan based on assessment and in conjunction with physician orders to achieve desired outcomes.

Evaluates and changes care plan as appropriate.

Implements plan of care.

Directs licensed and unlicensed personnel to implement plan of care.

Utilizes the results of evidence-based research to improve clinical outcomes.

Administers medications and performs treatments as ordered.

Provides patient/family education to affect desired clinical outcomes.

Observes and/or makes periodic rounds on assigned patients independently, with physicians, and other members of the health care team.

Reports pertinent patient assessment data, plan of care and response to all appropriate members of the health care team.

Documents nursing process and other pertinent patient/family information completely and accurately.

Participates in interdisciplinary patient care conferences. Communicates with other health care team members to resolve operational problems, patient satisfaction and clinical initiatives.

Completes competency for preceptor and/or charge nurse role at the direction/discretion of the nurse manager.

Completes competencies for unit specific responsibilities.

Takes on-call as needed.

Pay Range

$36.00 - $90.14

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Massachusetts Registered Nurse License and current BLS certification. The role requires utilizing the nursing process for comprehensive patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and accurate documentation, while adhering to all hospital policies and safety standards.
