The Extern performs technical procedures related to treating patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, including assembling equipment and administering respiratory medications under direct supervision. Key duties involve cleaning and maintaining department equipment, monitoring patient response to therapy, and performing prescribed therapies like nebulized treatments and ECGs.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma/GED or be a current student in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and hold current BCLS certification. Successful graduation from a Respiratory Therapy program is expected within 18 months, followed by obtaining the CRT credential within 6 months post-graduation.

Successful graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program is expected within 18 months of hire Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) is expected within 6 months following graduation.
