The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care, utilizing the nursing process to achieve departmental goals. This includes planning and providing advanced or specialized nursing care for patients guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model.
A minimum of one year of previous work experience as a registered nurse is required, with one plus years in an Operating Room preferred, including scrubbing and/or circulating experience. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN or higher) and hold current North Carolina RN licensure or compact RN licensure, along with BLS certification.

Unit: Summary
The Duke Regional Hospital Operating Room is a dynamic and growing perioperative environment staffed by a dedicated team of 50 highly skilled Nurses, supported by expert Surgical Technologists and Surgical Attendants. Together, this cohesive team delivers exceptional surgical care across 13 Operating Rooms, 2 Procedure Rooms, and 1 Cystoscopy Room, offering broad exposure to a wide range of surgical specialties.
This specialty mix creates an excellent opportunity for team members to expand skills, cross‑train, and grow within a supportive environment.

Orientation: Monday–Friday, five 8‑hour day shifts (6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.)
Monday–Friday, four 10-hour shifts (6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), with on‑call, holidays, and weekends as needed. (The schedule is subject to change based on unit needs.)
