The Peer Support Specialist assists veterans, first responders, military members, and families by offering supportive services and sharing lived experiences. Responsibilities include coordinating client care, implementing life skills education, and providing peer services in individual and group settings.
Candidates must be U.S. military veterans with a high school diploma or GED and in recovery from a diagnosed mental illness or substance use. DMH Peer Support certification is required within 180 days of hire, along with maintaining confidentiality and understanding therapeutic boundaries.

The Peer Support Specialist uses VR’s unique clinical approach to demonstrate and share lived experiences with clients and patients across the VR continuum of care. The PSS will assist veterans, first responders, military members and families by offering supportive services including community referrals and resources and most importantly, hope. The PSS supports clients with mental illness through shared recovery experience.
Obtain and maintain Driver’s Clearance and vehicle insurance.
