Evaluate and diagnose patients with cardiothoracic conditions through medical history review, physical examination, imaging studies, and diagnostic testing. Perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures, which may include coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair or replacement, thoracic aortic surgery, and other cardiac and thoracic operations consistent with training and experience. Provide preoperative assessment and risk stratification, including patient and family counseling regarding surgical options and expected outcomes. Manage postoperative care, including rounding on hospitalized patients, monitoring recovery, and addressing complications. Collaborate with cardiology, critical care, anesthesia, nursing, and allied health professionals to coordinate perioperative care. Participate in on-call coverage for cardiothoracic surgical services as required. Ensure timely, accurate, and complete documentation in the electronic health record. Adhere to evidence-based practices, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality conferences, and performance review activities. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school. Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in General Surgery or Integrated Cardiothoracic Surgery. Completion of an accredited fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Minimum 1 year experience. Board certification or board eligibility in Thoracic Surgery. Current, unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in the practicing state.
