Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree, completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and a Gastroenterology fellowship, and must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology. Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state and DEA registration or eligibility are also required.
A healthcare organization is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide comprehensive care for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic digestive diseases, performance of endoscopic procedures, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic disorders Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy Manage conditions such as GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and colorectal cancer screening Interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and pathology results Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans Provide inpatient consultations and outpatient clinic services Collaborate with surgeons, oncologists, primary care providers, and ancillary teams Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, treatment options, and preventive care Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and service line initiatives Practice Setting Outpatient gastroenterology clinic with procedural endoscopy suite Hospital-based inpatient consult coverage Shared call coverage within the gastroenterology group Patient Population Adult patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions Preventive, diagnostic, and longitudinal care Work Environment Gastroenterology clinic, endoscopy suite, and hospital practice settings Multidisciplinary, team-based care model Emphasis on quality outcomes, procedural excellence, and continuity of care
MD or DO from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state DEA registration or eligibility Skills & Competencies Expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care Ability to manage complex gastrointestinal conditions
