This role involves the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with cardiac rhythm disorders and cardiovascular disease, including both outpatient and inpatient care. Key duties include performing advanced diagnostic testing, interventional electrophysiology procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, have completed accredited residencies and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, and be board-eligible or board-certified. An active state medical license and DEA registration are also required.
Cardiologist / Cardiac Electrophysiologist (MD/DO)Position Summary The Cardiologist / Cardiac Electrophysiologist provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with cardiac rhythm disorders and cardiovascular disease. This role includes outpatient and inpatient care, advanced diagnostic testing, and interventional electrophysiology procedures, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based, patient-centered care and multidisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias and complex cardiovascular conditions Perform and interpret cardiac diagnostic studies, including ECGs, ambulatory monitoring, stress testing, echocardiography, and electrophysiology studies Perform interventional electrophysiology procedures, which may include catheter ablation, pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) placement, and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) Provide inpatient consultative services and outpatient cardiology/electrophysiology clinic care Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on current clinical guidelines Collaborate with general cardiology, cardiac surgery, anesthesia, and other specialty teams Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, procedural risks, and long-term management Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record Participate in call coverage, procedural schedules, and quality improvement initiatives Adhere to safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship Completion of an accredited Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship Board eligible or board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Active or eligible state medical license DEA registration or eligibility Skills and Competencies Advanced expertise in cardiac electrophysiology and rhythm management Strong clinical judgment and procedural decision-making skills Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment Commitment to evidence-based, high-quality cardiovascular care Work Environment Combination of outpatient clinic, inpatient consult service, and electrophysiology laboratory Schedule and call responsibilities vary by practice model and procedural volume MD/DO with board certification in Cardiology and an active medical license.
