The primary responsibility involves performing and interpreting ultrasonic evaluations of the heart using various echocardiography techniques, while ensuring patient safety and comfort according to established protocols. This role also includes assisting in teaching cardiology fellows and participating in research data collection and analysis.
Candidates must have completed a CAAEP accredited ultrasound program and be eligible for the ARDMS certificate examination, along with possessing two years of experience specifically in Cardiac Ultrasound. The role requires demonstrated knowledge to provide age-specific care across geriatric, adult, and adolescent patient populations.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Completion of a CAAEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited ultrasound program. Must be eligible to sit for the certificate examination offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the Brown University Health, with consideration of human developmental stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Two years' experience in Cardiac Ultrasound. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Healthcare environment such as physicians' medical office practice and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical office equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing. Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day. May be exposed to electrical and energy hazards. May lift and position patients, and lift supplies up to 50 pounds. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.
