The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant assists the Occupational Therapist by performing delegated occupational therapy procedures and documenting treatments and patient progress under supervision. This role requires modifying specific treatment procedures based on patient status within the established treatment plan.
This position requires a minimum formal education of an Associate Degree and at least 12 months of job-related experience. A current valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are mandatory if home visits are required, along with Certified OT Assistant certification.
Educated health care provider who assists the Occupational Therapist in the provisions of Occupational Therapy. Works under the direction and supervision of the registered Occupational Therapist in the home environment practice setting.
1. May perform occupational therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated by the supervising Occupational Therapist. 2. Documentation of treatments and progress documentation must be assigned by supervising Occupational Therapist. 3. May modify a specific treatment procedure in accordance with patient status within the scope of the established treatment plan. 4. The performance of the delegated functions by the COTA must be consistent with safe, legal occupational therapy practice. 5. The agency ensures that a qualified Occupational Therapist is always accessible by telecommunications to the COTA at all times while the COTA is treating patients. 6. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 7. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position requires a minimum formal education of Associate Degree and minimum of 12 months job- related experience.
If visits to patient's homes are needed, a current valid driver’s license and access to a good working vehicle are required.
