The technologist will conduct electroencephalograms (EEG) on patients, reviewing clinical history for complex medical conditions and employing sterile techniques during procedures. They must select appropriate electrodes for each case and provide emergency care like CPR or First Aid until a clinician arrives.
Candidates must meet specialized experience requirements equivalent to the GS-06 level, involving one year of experience conducting EEG examinations and operating EEG equipment, or possess one year of graduate-level education in a related field. Employment is contingent upon passing background investigations, obtaining necessary immunizations, maintaining BLS certification, and the ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
Overview Medical Intrument Technologist (EEG) , Tacoma, WA
Major Duties Conducts electroencephalograms (EEG) on patients. Reviews patient's clinical history for common and complicated medical conditions. Employs sterile techniques when conducting EEG procedures in all areas of the hospital. Selects from a variety of electrodes and determines the best suited for each individual case. When necessary, provide emergency care (i.e., CPR or First Aid) until clinician arrives. Performs other duties as assigned.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician. This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Required to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter. This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. This position is designated as having regular and recurring contact with children under the age of 18 and is subject to requirements of DoDI 1402.05 and AR 600-78. Inclement Weather Essential position. This position require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules. A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
