The phlebotomist is responsible for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, adhering to established hospital and departmental policies. This role involves periodic 'lead' responsibilities on a rotating basis while working under general supervision for routine assignments.
A High School graduate or GED is required, along with 6 months to 1 year of phlebotomy experience that includes pediatrics venipuncture and micro-collection. Preferred credentials include Phlebotomy, Nursing, or Medical Assistant certification, alongside strong customer relations and basic math/communication skills.
Under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department of Pathology.
6 months to 1 year phlebotomy experience including pediatrics venipuncture and micro-collection.
Education: High School graduate or GED required
Phlebotomy , Nursing or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Excellent customer relations skills; math, verbal, and written skills at high school level.
Regular internal and /or external contacts involving considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain information and/or willing action or consent where it would otherwise be difficult to obtain.
Periodically take ‘lead’ responsibilities on a rotating basis.
Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate supervisor or designee.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 80
Work Schedule: 4a-4:30p weekdays & alternating weekends
The minimum starting rate for this position is $18.00
