The technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures for radiological diagnosis, demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills to treat patients ranging from pediatric through geriatric. This involves following physician instructions, preparing and operating equipment, and correctly positioning patients to record requested diagnostic images.
Candidates must possess Basic Life Support certification and active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography (RT(R)) through ARRT, or be a recent graduate eligible for the board exam (must obtain credential within 6 months). A current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license or student permit is also required, along with the physical ability to maneuver equipment and improvise patient positioning.
