The Cardiac Sonographer applies sonography safely to patients for diagnostic purposes as requested by a physician. This role also involves working under the supervision of interpreting physicians specifically for cardiac sonography procedures.
Candidates must complete an accredited cardiac sonography program and possess current BLS certification. Two years of experience in adult transthoracic, stress, and TEE cardiac ultrasound, preferably in a hospital setting, is preferred.
Applies sonography safely to patients for diagnostic purposes upon the request of a physician. Also works under the supervision of the interpreting physicians for cardiac sonography. EDUCATION Completion of an accredited cardiac sonography program. EXPERIENCE Two years previous experience in adult transthoracic, stress (exercise and dobutamine), transesophageal (TEE) cardiac ultrasound preferred. Hospital setting preferred. LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS Credentialed or eligible for credentialing through American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
