The schedule is 100% managed by the BAMC facility leadership, and they require your full availability. Each in-patient unit determines each LVN's 40 hrs/week schedule based on its staffing requirements. Some units may schedule LVNs for (3) 12-hour shifts and (1) 4-hour shift or (2) 12-hour shifts and (2) 8-hour shifts depending on coverage needs. Please understand that these combinations will vary by unit and are based on operational requirements. *Please only apply if you are available to rotate from day shifts to night shifts every 3 months!
Job Duties
Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress; assists physicians during treatments and examinations; administers medication and prescribed treatments, completes admissions and discharges, and promote convalescence and rehabilitation, RNs are responsible for monitoring and interpretation of collected data by the LVNs and unlicensed assisted personnel, informing the medical staff as appropriate. Assess patients' conditions for potential or life-threatening crises and distinguishes between normal and abnormal physical findings; initiates life saving measures in the absence of a physician.

Capable of emergency equipment operation: defibrillator, EKG machine, cardiac monitor, and other equipment as determined by MTF, unit/clinic and position. Demonstrates the ability to react with alertness and skill in any emergency situation, e.g., cardiac or respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe physical trauma and psychiatric reaction, initiates life saving measures in the absence of a physician, depending on position and protocol, may serve as member of resuscitation or emergency code team. Each Licensed Vocational Nurse will manually and/or electronically document all patient care given and the progress of the patient utilizing the SAMMC/WHASC documentation standards in the patients' medical record.

Strict Qualification Requirements (Please do not apply unless you meet the minimum requirements) - Your Resume MUST show you have worked a minimum of 12 months Full-time in MedSurg or Acute Care (all as a licensed LVN) within the last 24 in a Medical or Surgical unit, Tele Unit, Acute Care, or LTAC MUST have up-to-date LVN License and BLS (AHA or ARC only) MUST be able to pass a background check for government clearance MUST be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing by the National League of Nursing MUST have a valid Licensed Vocational Nurse LVN/LPN Nursing license from ANY US Jurisdiction MUST have a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross MUST be competent in demonstrating neurovascular assessment, tracheostomy care and care of patients with chest tubes MUST be available to rotate from day shifts to night shifts every 3 months! They make NO exceptions to this. *All MED/SURG units require telemetry experience and required to pass the BAMC annual Cardiac Telemetry Test shortly after starting
