Colorado Springs Urology is seeking a top-tier Per Diem (PRN) professional to join our specialized Radiation Oncology team.

In this role, you will work in a focused, high-energy environment with the backing of the national Solaris Health network.

This is an ideal position for a therapist who wants to maintain advanced clinical skills in a premier specialty center on a PRN basis.

Work-Life Balance & Schedule Status: Per Diem / PRN Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Commitment

Approximately 8–24 hours per week based on center needs.

Treatment

Delivery: Accurately administer prescribed radiation doses with a focus on safety and patient comfort.

Technical

Expertise: Operate specialized equipment, including CT(s), and perform minor troubleshooting and laser alignment to ensure machine accuracy.

Patient

Care: Monitor patients for reactions throughout their course of treatment and provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and their families.

Safety

Current BLS Certification is required (ACLS is preferred).

Experience

Minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience or equivalent training in a Radiation Oncology setting.

  • GENERAL SUMMARY The Radiation Therapist Is an essential member of the Radiation Oncology team who primarily functions in a specialized area of radiation therapy technology in the role of direct patient care provider in the Radiation Oncology Center.
  • The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the performance of all duties relating to the administration of a prescribed course of Radiation Therapy.
  • The Radiation Therapist must be able to understand and carry out complex medical prescriptions and be able to work under pressure.
  • Furthermore, the Radiation Therapist must be able to communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner to personnel, patients, and physicians, and be task and detail oriented.
  • Most importantly, the Radiation Therapist provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis and treatment needs.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Accurately and efficiently reviews and/or administers daily prescribed Radiation Therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit at a speed consistent with patient scheduling. Observes and adheres to all department policies concerning Radiation Therapy treatment procedures. Prepares room and equipment for patient by gathering all necessary equipment, supplies, and setup devices. Sets appropriate treatment unit parameters. Activates the treatment unit and delivers the prescribed dose of radiation. Maintains visual and/or audible communication with the patient during treatment. Obtains appropriate port films on patients when prescribed; makes adjustments in field placement as needed. Throughout the course of Radiation Therapy, monitors patients for unusual reactions and events, and reports same to Clinical Director and Radiation Oncologist. Keeps immobilization devices in a clean and orderly manner and utilize the devices as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Maintains current knowledge of therapeutic procedures performed in the Radiation Oncology Department. Possesses basic knowledge of Radiation Oncology equipment function to provide for minor repair and troubleshooting for problems; water and gas levels, laser alignment, etc. Proficient in the utilization of all Radiation Oncology equipment in the department including CT(s). Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in moving/lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury to patients and to self. Applies safety principles in the performance of position responsibilities. Records Radiation Oncology charges as procedures are performed. Keeps records of machine down time and maintains machine fault list report. Assists her Supervisor in placing and scheduling service calls. Ensures proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed. Ensuring that all medical records are accurate and complete within the system for all patients. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS One (1) year certificate from college or technical school in Radiation Therapy certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) and American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT). BLS certification required, ACLS preferred. License and certification as required by state. KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES Maintains current knowledge of therapeutic procedures performed in the Radiation Oncology Department. Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR. The RT must have at least six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge of database management Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Customer-oriented with ability to remain calm in difficult situations. Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office. Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients. Ability to work independently and manage deadlines. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year certificate from college or technical school in Radiation Therapy certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS The RT must have at least six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
