The Dental Hygienist will perform various dental hygiene duties under the supervision of dentists, including patient interviews, oral inspections, and dental charting. The role also involves performing prophylaxis and applying treatments as directed by the dentist.
Candidates must have completed an accredited Dental Hygienist program and preferably have two to three years of experience. A valid Maine registered Dental Hygienist license and current CPR certification are also required.

In this role, you will work under the general and direct supervision of our dentists, performing all duties permitted in accordance with the State of Maine rules related to Dental Hygiene. Interview patients and record complete medical and dental histories, such as caries detection, periodontal pathologies, etc. Obtain and appropriately record vital signs to include blood pressure, pulse and temperature. Perform oral inspections, recording all conditions that should be called to the attention of the dentist. Perform complete periodontal and dental restorative charting. Exposing radiographs. Perform pulp [vitality] test pursuant to the direction of a dentist. Perform all procedures necessary for a complete prophylaxis including supra and sub gingival scaling, root planing [deep cleaning] and curettage. Apply topical fluoride to control caries. Apply desensitizing agents to the teeth. Apply liquids, pastes or gel topical anesthetics to oral tissue. Apply sealants, provided that a licensed dentist first makes the determination and diagnosis as to the surface on which the sealants shall be applied. Smooth and polish amalgam restorations. Cement pontics and facings outside of mouth. Take impressions for study casts.
Education: an accredited Dental Hygienist program. Two to three years of experience, preferred. Ability to work with public and other medical and health providers. Possess typing skills and basic computer knowledge. Possess current CPR certification.
Possess valid Maine registered Dental Hygienist license or Independent Practice Dental Hygienist.
