Advanced Practice Providers deliver comprehensive newborn care, ranging from well newborn care to intensive care, providing direct patient management across nurseries, special care units, and the Level IV Regional Perinatal Center’s NICU. Responsibilities also include participating in delivery room stabilization, rotating through care areas, assisting in policy development, contributing to quality initiatives, and supervising students.
Candidates must possess current PA/NP licensure in NYS and must have NICU nursing experience or prior experience as an APP, with a required NICU rotation if the APP experience was outside that setting. Nurse Practitioners require a Master's degree and national certification, while Physician Assistants require completion of an ARC-PA approved program and NCCPA certification.
NNP, PNP or PA We currently have a full-time position available, with flexible scheduling that includes a combination of 10-hour, 12.5-hour, and 13-hour shifts, and day/night rotation. The schedule includes 4 weekend shifts every 6 weeks, with additional weekend shifts possible based on unit needs. Our Advanced Practice Provider APP team delivers comprehensive newborn care across the region, spanning from well newborn care to intensive care. APPs provide direct patient care in a variety of settings, including newborn nurseries, special care nurseries and neonatal intensive care units.
Provide direct care and management of neonates across a range of settings, including well newborn units, special care units, and the Level IV Regional Perinatal Center’s 68-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), in collaboration with Neonatology faculty. Participate in delivery room stabilization and ongoing management of neonates. Rotate through newborn care areas as well as the NICU, with the ability to flex between settings based on clinical needs. Assist in the development and implementation of care policies and clinical protocols for NICU and newborn patients. Contribute to staff education, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs related to neonatal care. Supervise and mentor nurse practitioner or physician assistant students during their clinical training in newborn and intensive care settings.
Current PA/NP licensure in NYS. NICU nursing experience or previous experience as an APP required. If previous experience as an APP is not within the NICU setting, a NICU rotation as a student APP is required. Nurse Practitioner Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner. Physician Assistant Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
