The Nursing Assistant provides essential patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living, ambulation, and patient transport. They are also responsible for documenting care, monitoring patient safety, and reporting condition changes to the nursing staff.
Candidates must be at least enrolled in or a graduate of a high school program and obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech or completion of relevant nursing school training is required or preferred.
Assists patients with ADL’s according to hospital procedures, reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to nurse in charge of patient. Assists with ambulation of patients and uses assist devices as appropriate to protect patient and staff member. Assists with restocking of rooms and maintain a safe and clean environment. Attends appropriate training programs, unit meetings and other mandatory meetings. Seeks to be involved in unit improvements, quality projects, and other enhancements to patient care. Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
Education: Must be actively enrolled in high school or equivalent program. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
