The Medical Assistant performs patient care under direct physician or nurse supervision, including preparing patients, administering tests, and recording diagnostic laboratory results. Key duties involve collaborating with the healthcare team, performing vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with special procedures and examinations.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and must have completed a Medical Assistant training program with a certificate, or have 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, EMT, or Certified Nursing Attendant with a valid certificate. Successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program is also an acceptable qualification.
