The Medical Physicist II is responsible for all clinical aspects of medical physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology, including audits of patient medical charts and quality assurance evaluations on radiation machines. Additional responsibilities include assisting with clinical research projects and providing guidance to staff and physicians.
Candidates must have a minimum Master's Degree in Physics or a related field from a CAMPEP-accredited program and at least 2 years of clinical experience as a medical physicist. Certifications from recognized boards in medical physics are also required.

GENERAL OVERVIEW: This job is responsible for all clinical aspects of medical physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Audits and reviews patient medical charts. 30% Performs quality assurance/control evaluations on radiation producing machines. 20% Assists with special clinical research and development projects as assigned. 10% Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards. 10% Advises and provides guidance to dosimetry and therapy staff and provides consultation services to attending physicians. 10% Assists with the delivery of patient care for special procedures. 10% Supervises and provides training to departmental staff in the application of physics. 10% Other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Master's Degree in Physics or related field from a CAMPEP-accredited program 2 years of experience in Clinical experience as a medical physicist CPR – American Heart Association Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate One of the following: Therapeutic Medical Physics Certification - American Board of Radiology (ABR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics Certification - American Board of Medical Physicists (ABMP) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) Radiation Oncology Physics Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) Magnetic Resonance Safety Certification – American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS) Preferred 3 or more publications in medical physics SKILLS: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work independently in a challenging environment and take appropriate action.
