The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. They ensure laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met while performing clinical laboratory testing.
Candidates must possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or be registry eligible, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of healthcare experience and 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience.
Medical Lab Technician Location: Crookston Lab Schedule: .8 fte / 64 hours every 2 weeks- working every third weekend and holiday rotation Pay Range: $22.18 - 31.06/hr (based on experience)

Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing Follows standard operating procedures for MLS/MLTs Ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met Recognizes safety hazards and complies with all safety practices and protocols Collects and processes lab specimens with proper equipment Performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods Collect and manage samples of blood and other fluids from patients
Minimums: Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 6 months of employment. Required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If not currently certified, RiverView will offer training which must be completed within 6 months of employment. Preferred(s): 2+ years’ healthcare experience in any field 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience Competencies: Collaboration and teamwork, supporting team goals and contributes positively. Commitment to quality improvement, safety standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CLIA, COLA, CAP). Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work independently. Manages workload efficiently to meet productivity and quality targets.
