About the role

The Radiology Staff Technologist is responsible for operating radiographic equipment and producing diagnostic radiographs while ensuring patient safety and compliance with infection control procedures. The role also involves assisting in emergency situations and participating in cost containment measures.

Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates competency in the operation of all radiographic equipment. Prepares the patient and work environment for the successful completion of radiographic examination. Produces diagnostic radiographs according to department standards and protocols. Practices all types of isolation, infection control procedures and universal precautions. Performs basic patient care protocols according to department guidelines under the direction of the OR Charge Nurse and/or OR Manager. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Assists with emergency code situation in accordance with Center policies. Demonstrates proper radiation safety procedures. Complies with safety and emergency procedures consistent with Center policy. Complies with all Center policies. Participates in unit cost containment measures. Personal Conduct Education Demonstrates appropriate decision making ability. Exhibits behavior consistent with the Center’s philosophy “The Patient Comes First”. Presents a positive role model as radiological technologist in the performance of duties. May require local travel to other campuses. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED Satisfactory completion of AMA accredited program Licensure/Certification: Certified by AART Certified by State of Florida Radiation Control
