Job Description

Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director, Clinical Manager, and Charge Nurse, responsible for providing hygienic care and assigned procedures for assigned patients. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs direct and indirect patient care responsibilities as assigned by charge nurse and/or preceptor. Ensures patient safety. Documents delivery of patient care and other pertinent information in patients’ medical record and contributes to the plan of care for assigned patients as necessary. Ensures the proper segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste. Communicates information regarding patients and unit operations to RN, Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, Director, and other shifts in a timely manner using proper lines of communication. Communicates effectively with other departments with personnel from other departments in the hospital or clinic using proper lines of communication. Performs and documents secondary assessment on patients in Med/Surg, Progressive Care, Post, Acute, and Skilled Nursing only. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Completion of an accredited LPN program as evidenced by an official transcript or diploma and authorization to test (ATT). LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position. EXPERIENCE: Current skills and knowledge obtained from the completion of an approved LPN program required. Less than 6 months of hospital or clinic experience as and LPN.
