The Behavioral Health Specialist provides crisis intervention, monitors medication administration, and assists individuals with personal care and recovery goals. They also document mental and physical conditions and transport individuals to appointments and activities.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in a human services field. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is also required.
Job duties include: Provides, assists with, or coaches individuals on personal care needs with limited supervision; provides crisis interventions (including evidence based practices to maintain the safety of individuals); monitors adult interactions and behaviors; monitors medication administration as prescribed; monitors and documents mental and physical condition of individuals. Teaches, coaches and provides guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives of individuals; assists individuals with managing their emotions, assists and supports individual treatment/recovery goals and assist in developing positive coping skills; develops and maintains a positive and effective relationship with service recipients, families, and other service providers. Organizes and participates in meetings related to care coordination; completes documentation for direct services provided to ensure timely and accurate completion. Transports individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work. Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working in a human services field are required. A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is preferred. Minimum Shifts: Candidates are required to cover a minimum of 1 shift per month. Annual Hour Limit: Candidates may work a maximum of 999 hours per year. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
Experience working in a behavioral health setting is preferred. Education/Experience Substitutions: Education may be substituted for experience. All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
