The MRI Technologist performs MRI exams and related activities under the direction of the Lead MRI Technologist. Responsibilities include assisting patients with mobility and operating imaging equipment within a magnetic field.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, graduation from an A.R.R.T. accredited X-Ray school, and current A.R.R.T. registration. Additional requirements include Mississippi State Board of Health registration and CPR certification for health care workers.
The Imaging Department MRI Technologist works under general direction of the Lead MRI Technologist performs MRI exams and related activities.
One to three years experience performing MRI and/or three to five years experience performing CT scans; strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy; A.R.R.T. certification in MRI.
High school education or equivalent; graduation from an A.R.R.T. accredited school of X-Ray Technology; A.R.R.T. registration in radiography; current Mississippi State Board of Health registration as a Medical Radiation Technologist; CPR for health care workers; ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Physical requirements include ability to work in a highly magnetic field, stand/walk, bend, stoop, twist, assist patients in turning, assist patients in arising from exam table, push wheelchair/stretcher patients, assist patients in arising and returning to wheelchair and/or stretchers.
