Intensive behavior support professional, 40 hrs per week, (Long island ny)

• 40 hours per week FLEX includes evenings and rotating weekends
• Pay range is $21.50-23.11 per hour based on years of experience in field.
• Position is based in Garden City, NY with travel to and assistance at our other programs in Queens and Long Island required

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of OPWDD regulations
• High School Diploma required
• Current SCIP Certification required
• Valid NYS driver’s license required

Responsibilities

• Include:
• Serves as a role model in the implementation of complex behavior support plans.
• Demonstrates competency in crisis prevention strategies, ABC data collection methods, and positive reinforcement principals.
• Offers new employee training and guidance specific to behavioral interventions as requested.
• Possesses an in-depth knowledge of treatment plans, and offers feedback to the Behavior Intervention Specialist regarding enhancement modifications.
• Functions as a role model for staff by demonstrating positive and supportive interactions with the individual’s we support.
• Flexibility with work schedule to include hours and location.
• Assumes a proactive, team oriented role during a crisis situation when implementing behavioral intervention strategies.
• Assists the Management team in managing crisis situations that may involve the police, emergency services, psychiatric hospital admissions, etc.
• Ensures proper safety protocols are followed when physical interventions are implemented.
