About the role

The Registered Dietitian conducts nutritional assessments, determines appropriate diet orders, and provides counseling to patients and families. They also collaborate with medical staff and kitchen personnel to ensure patient nutritional needs are met within an interdisciplinary setting.

  • Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses.
  • Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children’s hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues.
  • Cumberland includes a 62 bed Hospital Program, a 16 bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30 bed Residential Treatment Program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition required.
  • Registered Dietitan license required.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents who experience behavior dysfunction secondary to brain injury, autism, and other developmental disabilities, chronic medical disorders and other severe and chronic impairments, and their caregivers preferred.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition and possess a valid Registered Dietitian license. Experience working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities or chronic medical conditions is preferred.
