The dental assistant will support the dentist during procedures, manage dental x-rays, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory and operatories. Additionally, the role involves patient education, inventory management, and assisting with clerical duties such as scheduling.
Requirements summary
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and have completed a dental assisting educational program. Applicants are required to have dental assisting experience, hold an Expanded Functions certification, and maintain current CPR certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Assist the dentist with all dental procedures, as directed.
Take dental x-rays; develop and prepare the x-rays for evaluation by the dentist.
Clean, sterilize, and lubricate instruments.
Provide dental education for patients and families as required.
Perform general lab procedures as required.
Responsible for assisting with inventory and ordering of dental supplies.
Maintain operatories, waiting room and laboratory in proper order.
Assist the dental receptionist with scheduling and chart maintenance and other clerical duties as required.
Perform other appropriate duties as required.
Qualifications
Requirements: Experience in dental assisting preferred but not required. Must be CPR certified or become certified during probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment with COMC.
Education and/or experience
Must have GED or be a graduate from high school.
Language
Skills: Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to effectively present information to the Dental Director.
Mathematical
Skills: Knowledge of fundamental math, adding machine, calculator, and Microsoft office.

Travel
Requirement: To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to all COMC locations may be required. Employee must have valid Missouri driver’s license and availability of a motor vehicle. Overnight travel may also be required in specific incidences of training, conferences, etc.
