Minimum Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year cardiac clinical nursing experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications or must obtain within 30 days of hire date.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and common cardiac pathologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Cardiac Vascular Nursing (RN-BC) or equivalent specialty certification.
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in cardiac care units.
  • Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary cardiac care team.
  • Advanced certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cardiac assessments including vital signs, ECG interpretation, and symptom evaluation to identify changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and cardiac-specific treatments in accordance with physician orders and clinical guidelines.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, response to treatment, and any adverse reactions, promptly communicating concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive cardiac care.
  • Provide patient and family education on cardiac disease management, medication adherence, lifestyle changes, and post-discharge care.
  • Respond to cardiac emergencies such as arrhythmias, myocardial infarctions, and cardiac arrests with appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with advancements in cardiac nursing care.
