Provide scripted training to youth on social and emotional skill building while developing and implementing individualized care plans. Maintain accurate client records in an electronic health record system and participate in required weekly and monthly meetings.
Requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and one year of experience working with children with serious emotional disturbances.
Therapeutic Mentor The Therapeutic Mentor is a direct service provider that provides support, coaching, and training in age-appropriate behaviors and skills for children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance as assigned by supervisor in Jefferson, Blount or St. Clair Counties.
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Preference for a person with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or Human/Behavioral Sciences-related field from an accredited university. One year of experience working with children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance and their families is preferred. Valid Alabama driver's license and driving record acceptable to agency automobile insurance carrier for inclusion on agency policy. Suitable automobile to permit the required travel. Must show and maintain car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage.
Knowledge of special needs and behavioral characteristics of severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children. Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the human services provider agencies in the catchment area. Knowledge of the legal and ethical issues relative to maintaining consumer confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team. Ability and willingness to document activities and maintain records in an electronic medical record system within a required designated time period as stipulated by supervisors. Demonstrates skills in interpersonal relationships and dynamics. Considerable written and expressive communication skills. Qualifications
