Performs advanced nuclear medicine imaging procedures and monitors quality control activities for equipment and radiopharmaceuticals. Collaborates with radiologists on protocol development and provides technical guidance to staff and students.
Requires graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Must hold ARRT(N) or CNMT certification along with current BLS or CPR credentials.
Performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Monitors quality control activities and demonstrates advanced level of knowledge in nuclear medicine by providing patient care as defined by the most up to day protocols and procedures. Interacts with patients and co-workers by displaying the values of caring, listening, dignity and respect. Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team. Performs all responsibilities of Level I Nuclear Medicine tech including maintains proper records of radiopharmaceuticals and calculates, measures and records patient dose. Performs all quality control checks on imaging and non-imaging equipment. Properly identifies all patients and provides instructions for exams. Competently performs all nuclear medicine exams and codes and tracks exams in RIS. Assist with educating staff and student technologists to provide technical guidance and education. Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives. Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups. Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development.
Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program required. 2 Years nuclear medicine experience required. Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.
