Provide spiritual care to patients, families, and medical staff by helping them integrate experiences of illness, trauma, and loss with their personal beliefs. Act as a liaison between the hospital, community clergy, and the Bioethics Committee to support treatment decisions and continuity of care.
Requires a Master's degree and at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an accredited center. Candidates must have at least one year of chaplaincy or ministerial experience and be eligible for professional certification.
Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks an On-Call Chaplain for their Spiritual Care department responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, families, hospital personnel, and medical staff by assisting them in the integration of the experience of illness, trauma, and loss with their own beliefs and practices. Serves as a liaison with physicians, patient, families, and the Ethics Committee in addressing ethical issues regarding treatment decisions. Works closely with community spiritual leaders to ensure continuity of spiritual care.
All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.
Minimum: Master's degree in theology or related field and successful completion of one unit of CPE/CPT from an accredited certifying organization.
Six months working in a hospital chaplaincy program.
