The Emergency Room Attendant assists licensed nurses with patient care tasks such as measuring vital signs, performing EKGs, and venipuncture. They also provide support with patient ambulation, feeding, and transportation within the emergency department.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and obtain BLS certification during the orientation period. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required.
Overview Under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, the Emergency Room Attendant performs various duties to assist in the care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. These duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining EKG's, venipuncture, ambulation assistance, toilet assistance, feeding, measuring vital signs and blood glucose, and transporting.
Education/Licensure: Must have high school diploma or GED.Experience: No previous experience required, but preferred.Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
