The physician is responsible for examining and treating patients, maintaining electronic medical records, and supervising medical support personnel. They also collaborate with the care team to provide referrals, manage diagnoses, and participate in community outreach activities.
Candidates must possess medical training in family or general practice and adhere to the ethical standards of the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and flexibility to work a varied schedule.
Description High Country Community Health (HCCH) is a federally funded Community and Migrant Health Center with medical locations in Watauga, Avery, Burke, and Surry Counties. The mission of HCCH is to provide comprehensive and culturally sensitive primary health care services that may include dental, mental and substance abuse services to the medically under-served populations.
This position requires medical training for family practice, general practice or other primary care practice orientation, with understanding and interest in preventive and community health.

A. Examine and treat patients in the office. B. Refer patients for specialist services, as required. C. Provider will answer telephone calls from HCCH’s Nurse Triage when scheduled. D. Maintain electronic medical records. E. Review lab, x-ray, and emergency reports daily and supervise medical support personnel. F. Provide back-up, supervision and development of standing orders for provider extender. G. Participate in special screening, training, and community outreach activities as determined. H. Develop cooperative arrangements with other health providers in the area. I. Participate in the drafting of medical policies in conjunction with HCCH Medical Director, C.E.O., and board representatives. J. Ensure appropriate coding for billing purposes K. Perform all other medically related assigned duties. L. Maintain ability to order testing with a local hospital. M. Promote goodwill among and between HCCH employees N. Maintain respectful and open dialogue with HCCH leadership
