The phlebotomist is responsible for performing venipuncture and related procedures in accordance with hospital and pathology department policies. The role also involves taking lead responsibilities on a rotating basis and maintaining regular internal and external contacts.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and 6 months to 1 year of phlebotomy experience, including pediatrics and micro-collection. A phlebotomy, nursing, or medical assistant certification is preferred.
Under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department of Pathology.
6 months to 1 year phlebotomy experience including pediatrics venipuncture and micro-collection.
Education: High School graduate or GED required
Phlebotomy , Nursing or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Excellent customer relations skills; math, verbal, and written skills at high school level.
Regular internal and /or external contacts involving considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain information and/or willing action or consent where it would otherwise be difficult to obtain.
Periodically take ‘lead’ responsibilities on a rotating basis.
Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate supervisor or designee.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 40
4pm-4:30am weekdays and alternating weekends.
The minimum starting rate for this position is $18.00
