The Surgical Technician prepares and maintains the sterile field while assisting the surgical team during procedures. They are responsible for instrument handling, equipment readiness, and ensuring patient safety through accurate counts and adherence to protocols.
Candidates must hold a degree from a Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program and possess a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and up to 2 years of relevant operating room experience are required.
The Surgical Technician – Certified works collaboratively with the surgical team to facilitate safe, effective, and high-quality patient care in the operating room. This role prepares and maintains the sterile field, anticipates surgical team needs, and ensures proper handling of surgical instruments and supplies. The Surgical Technician – Certified also supports OR efficiency through equipment readiness, inventory management, and adherence to infection prevention protocols.
