The pharmacist is responsible for the safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications for both inpatient and outpatient care. They also provide drug information, supervise pharmacy staff, and ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
Candidates must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of Mississippi. Experience with unit-dose distribution, IV admixture systems, and pharmacotherapeutics is preferred.
Under general supervision, ensures prompt, safe, and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications to both inpatient and outpatient care areas. Reviews and verifies physician orders to ensure appropriate therapy. Provides drug information to medical staff, nursing, and patients. Supervises pharmacy technicians, interns, externs, and pharmacy assistants in accordance with hospital policy.
Works primarily in a well‑lit, climate‑controlled pharmacy environment. Position requires sustained mental focus, ability to respond quickly under pressure, and exposure to moderate noise levels. Typical work distribution includes approximately 60% sitting and 40% standing or walking.
