About the role

The primary duties involve performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures according to scope and standards, which includes preparing patients, selecting appropriate protocols, optimizing technical factors, and ensuring patient safety through radiation protection principles. Job Summary Performs magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Essential Functions Receive, relay and document verbal, facsimile, electronic and/or telephone orders in the patient’s chart as permitted by state and company policies.

Provide education and prepare patients for procedures.

Select the appropriate protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety.

Apply principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.

Apply three basic principles of radiation safety: time, distance and shielding.

Observe patient and machine during procedure and report any unexpected outcomes.

Clean and disinfect x-ray room and equipment as per infection control policy.

Evaluate images for proper positioning and determine if additional images will improve the procedure or treatment outcome.

Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification is recorded.

Corroborate a patient’s clinical history with the procedure and ensure information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.

Postprocess images and data.

Verify archival storage of exam data.

Assist in maintaining medical records while respecting confidentiality and established policy.

Identify and respond to emergency situations.

Follow process for managing equipment and physical environment to ensure a safe working environment.

Communicate issues, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to immediate supervisor routinely.

Work cooperatively as a team member with co-workers in all departments of the hospital.

Apply principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care.

Provide optimal patient care.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Approximate percent of time required to travel 0%25.

Must read, write and speak fluent English.

Must have good and regular attendance.

Performs other related duties as assigned

Education Graduated from an approved Joint Review Committee of Radiologic Technology program (JRCRTE) and is required to successfully pass the registry that is administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists within one year of post-graduation.

Licenses/Certifications The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.

Current BLS certification.

State certifications/licensure as required by the state of practice.

Experience One year experience in diagnostic imaging preferred.

Requirements

Candidates must graduate from an approved JRCRTE program and pass the ARRT registry within one year of graduation, holding current ARRT registration and BLS certification, along with any state-required licensure. One year of diagnostic imaging experience is preferred, and fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is mandatory.
