The primary role involves administering radiopharmaceuticals or radiation to patients for disease detection using specialized equipment under physician direction to ensure accurate images. Key duties include preparing and administering radiopharmaceutical dosages, performing diagnostic imaging, and ensuring strict adherence to radiation safety and quality control standards.
A high school education is required, along with a minimum of one year of active experience as a PET/CT Technologist, although recent graduates eligible for registry may be considered if they pass the required exam within six months of hire. Candidates must maintain active state licensure in Nuclear Medicine and General Radiography and hold a required BLS certification.
