About the role

The Urgent Care Technician provides direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, performing wound care, and assisting physicians during medical procedures. They also manage administrative tasks such as documenting in the EPIC system and coordinating patient referrals.

Located off the beautiful Oregon Coast, Adventist Health Tillamook has been one of the area's leading healthcare providers since 1950.

We are comprised of a 25-bed critical access medical center, rural health and urgent care medical offices, home care services, and a vast scope of services located throughout Tillamook County and the surrounding areas.

Job Summary: Performs tasks (within their scope of practice/licensing requirements) required to ensure efficient and effective delivery of patient care in the Urgent Care clinic environment.

Functions directly under the supervision and guidance of the Clinic Nurse Manager.

Identifies urgent situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.

Assists physician during procedures when needed.

Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Successful completion of Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization: Preferred Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI): Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Paramedic Certification: Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic (PM): Required Essential Functions: Provides basic care under the direction and guidance of their provider.

Assists physician during procedures when needed; i.e.: Pap test, lesion removal, colposcopy, dressing change, etc.

Rooms patients and obtains vital signs including but not limited to height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse.

Documents vital signs in the EPIC Electronic Medical Record System.

Performs wound care, splinting, IV skills (IV starts/infusions and IV medication administration), and assists during medical emergencies.

Coordinates and documents referrals to other physicians, or clinics and tracks that follow up correspondence has been received.

Obtains insurance prior authorizations when needed for radiology procedures such as CT's, MRI's, stress tests, etc.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and either an EMT or Paramedic license. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with experience in emergency assessment and crisis intervention.
