The caregiver is responsible for performing safety rounds, assisting residents with daily living activities, and responding to emergency situations throughout the night. They must also maintain accurate documentation of care and ensure a clean, safe environment for residents.
Previous caregiving experience in assisted living or nursing homes is preferred, and CNA/GNA certification is highly desired. Candidates must be able to stay alert during overnight shifts and possess the physical ability to lift and transfer residents.
Key Responsibilities Perform routine safety checks and rounds on residents at scheduled intervals Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Toileting and incontinence care Dressing and grooming (as needed overnight) Mobility assistance and repositioning Respond promptly to call lights, alarms, and emergency situations Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns to supervisor Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and overnight observations Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment (light housekeeping, laundry, etc.) Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents who may be anxious or confused Assist with early morning routines and prepare residents for day shift staff
Previous caregiving experience preferred (assisted living, home care, or nursing home) CNA/GNA certification preferred but not always required Ability to stay awake, alert, and attentive throughout overnight shift Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively Physical Requirements Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents (up to 50 lbs or more with assistance) Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods Capable of responding quickly in emergency situations
